Who Loves Fresh Food

Hi and welcome to.

Who loves fresh food: Well I don't think you can beat knowing where your food is coming from and if it is fresh or not.
Here at from fresh-food-from-garden-2-Plate, we specialise in knowing that its fresh, and if eaten on the day its very nutritious, as we grow organicly, using only compost made from all our garden waste, plus a bit of pulverised animal matter, and kept in bays for up to 2 months while it works and matures into a beautiful easy to sow into the garden rows as we plant.

Anyway we have just harvested Butter and Green  Beans, my favourites are Butter beans, they are beautiful with salads, and you can pick them straight from the garden and eat raw, because you know there are no fertilisers and chemicals, been put on them; also the same with the green beans, and just about any vegetables in the Garden for that matter, many times my lovely Wife, will call me in for dinner, and when I say just a small helping for me please, she says have you been eating them raw, yes love I will Answer.

See the beauty of a beautiful vegetable Garden, you get all the great things that a diet needs, to make it do its work. We are on a raw fruit and vegetable diet, mainly to keep all the weight off that we accumulate over the Christmas month, yes I eat quite an amount of raw vegetables and fruit, in seasons, and have no trouble keeping my weight down, and this is a great thing to know, expecially if you have a weight problem, and by doing it this way you can still eat, as much as you want to be satisfied, and you are not cooking all the good vitimins, and minerals, out of the vegetables.

And you can also do as we have done and still like doing, you can juice them and drink the juices, also after you have juiced them, you can still eat all the roughage, from the juicing wether it be carrot juice, or mixed with fruit juice, never throw out any of the substances, from juicing your vegetables, and fruit always eat them, tuck them into a wrap, and fill it with some Yougart, of your choice, makes nice meal, washed down with a nice juiced vegies, and fruit.

Ok until our next post, from fresh food from garden 2 plate, you keep well and safe and keep growing all those delicious foods. from the Author:

Weeds are Growing Too

Hi and welcome to Fresh-Food-From-Garden-2-Plate, Well this time we are now sowing Sweet Corn, plus More carrots, Parsnips, and keeping all the weeds under control, by every time we come into the Garden,we pull a bucket for the Chooks to eat and they love them, and its greens for them keeps their eggs with nice dark yokes.

Ok so our sweet corn is expecially planted, first by soaking in a organic fertiliser of liquid, over night.
Then into a nicely dug bed with no weeds in, and after a week they are up and running, after two weeks they are at least 9 inches high, so keep them going, with every fortnight, a liquid spray not too heavy just enough to let them know they are cared for.

Ok then we planted more Carrots, which every month we like to plant another bed of them as so as we have them all year round, as well as Parsnips because they nearly always go together in a soup, or a baked dinner, we soak them for about an hour in a nice organic liquid and then straight into the ground, they take about 10 days to shoot, then keep the water up to them expecially if they are in sandy soil.

And a general garden keeping, like weeding and keeping the soil dug over and when the beds are empty keep them well watered and plenty of organic Compost dug into them and this helps the garden worms to do their job by taking the compost deep into the soil, and helps it air rate the ground, and keeps the soil fertile.

Ok we now its time to say we hope you have a great Festive Season and don't forget what Christmas is all about and how it all started, with Christ being born as a babe, and came to save the lost, so have a very happy Christmas, and drive safely, and have a prosperous 2010, and keep reading here and helping us to keep this blog going. thank you for all your input. See you in the new year bye for now:

Chives Plant of the Week

Hello and welcome to my garden-fresh-foods:

This week we are going to be planting chives, a close relative of onions, shallots, and garlic, are grown for their leaves, which have a mild flavour, and are particularly usefulfor seasonings.

And of course, when chopped up finely they enhance the flavour of salads, soups, and egg dishes.
They add much to mashed potatoes, egg samwiches, and omlettes.
They do well in any good, light garden soil that is suitable for onions.
It should be limed if it is at all acid; Full sun is best, but chives will tolerate pariale shade.
They make a good edging plant for the kitchen garden and are ideal for a container near the kitchen door, where they are easy assesible.

The Bulbs needn't be disturbed for three or four years. Then dig them up in spring, divide the bulbs and replant, in enriched soil.
When the plants are well established the leaves can be cut throughout the year, They can be cut back to just above the ground level and they will shoot again.

Chives grow in clumps about 20-30 centermeters, tall. They produce very lovely pink- mauve flower stalks and they should be cut back as so as not to exaust the plant; the foliaghe dies down in late winter.
Cover a few plants with dryleaves or dig them up and replant in frames on the green house to get very early growth.
Chives grow in the wild in Greece and Turkey, but not here in Tasmania,They have been used by Ancient civilization, the firstknown use of chives is recorded in chinese scrolls some 2000 years ago.

Ok till our next post on something sweet and nice, you keep well and eat well. Green thumb.

Weeding and Seeding To the Chooks.

Hi And Welcome to Garden-Fresh-Foods.

To day we are going to be shareing with you on what to do with all those weeds, that are picked from among all your Garden-Fresh-Food:
Ok at our place we have a rule, to follow each day; First we get up at Dawn, as the sun comes up, and we both spend time with our Heavenly Father in a Devotional time of reading from his Word He has written to us to learn from, and over breakfast we chat about what His Word says to us, Which is the Word of Truth, where can you read the Truth today, many years ago there was a newspaper called the Truth, it was full of Rubbish adultery, Sex, Horse Racing, Dateing, you name it and you could read about it Can any one remember the Paper???.

Ok next we are ready for the new Day, Which the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it: So then its down into the Garden-Fresh-Foods, we go to work, and as the Title says , weeding and Seeding to the Chooks or Chickens, which ever you like to say, and We take a bucket each and start in opersite ends of the rows, and we weed our vegetables, and when we get a bucket full each, we take them down to the yard where the Chickens are and we throw them out over the ground where they can eat and scratch around in them, and they never leave one stork there till next day all eaten, along with their Wheat.

Then they in turn produce, a good heap of eggs each day, a way of saying thank you for the weeds, and the Wheat, always make sure they have plenty of cool clean water, laid on in their yards, and they don't take much looking after, Then every 3 moths we change them into another part of the Garden, and then roterhoe, the place where they were and replant it all out into gardens, its a great way of keeping the weeds at bay, and it puts good Manure, on the ground for the next plantings.

Each Chicken yard is 30 Feet long and 4feet wide, just wide enough as so as we can weed it from each side, as so as not to tread on the beds and empackt it down hard.
As our whole Garden is only 120 feet long and 4 feet wide split up into 4 beds of 30 feet long and 4 feet wide, and changed every 3 months, keeps weeds under control, and plenty of every kind of Vegetable on the table in seasons. next post we will be chatting about our Flower gardens, so ladies get ready for a surprize, and if you want to know more about any of this leave comments and we will answer them each time we post, ok God bless you all, and keep planting.

Gardening Principles

Hi and Welcome to Garden fresh food:

Today I want to talk to you about Garden Principles:

What I mean by that is I want to show you how to set up your gardening plan, as so as you can get a lot more into the space you have allocated for a vegetable garden.

Garden Principles:

1. Divide Garden Area up into 8--9seperate Beds:

2. Use narrow paths between beds:

3. Never walk on a bed, and no future digging:

4. Cover all beds with straw or mulch:

5. 2 beds are required to be straw free in September:

6. All other crops can use seedlings or pull back back for a seed space:

7. Use close planting to maximise yield Although individual plants will be slightly smaller.

8. Straw will prevent weeds, conserve water, provide, fertiliser for future years, Maintain a good Layer-weeds, indicate more straw required.

9. Extra fertiliser is required in initial few years as soil fertility via straw and mulch has not increased.

10. Rotate crops around the beds.

11. All rubbish, scraps, prunings, etc from Autumn clean ups, can be placed on two beds and thereforebuild up a mound for Potatoes in July/Aug.
Plant Cabbages, Cauliflowers, through these beds after Potatoes.

12. The Garden system should be as Follows:

Straw:

Plant:

Water:

Harvest:

"No Digging".

13. For a Garden 102 Meters long by 2 meters wide, cut into small beds 6 feet long and 4 feet wide, will allow you to weed from each side, and plant from each side, as so as not to tread on any beds.

14. Harvest a Basket of Vegetables, once/ a week every week of the year, for Summer Main Crops a second Harvest/ week for Freezer:

15. Time investment approx 2 hours per week:

16. Use of Cloths/ Glass/ Plastic Bags, etc will Allow early plantings up to 6--8 weeks.

17. Remember snail/slug pellets around seedlings for protection:

Hope you find all this very helpful if you need to know anything please leave a comment below, and I will personally answer it for you, with my own hand writting or you can email me.
Next Post we are going to show you what to plant, each month: So you please take good care and be encouraged to start your own Vegie Garden even if you are in a high rise appartment we will show you how with just small spaces how to do it. luv ya all bye for now and God Bless you and keep you healthy.

Vegetables and Wallaby Patties

Hi and Welcome,to Garden-fresh-Food.

To day I want to share with you about my Grandma's Wallaby Patties, with Vegetables, they are delicious, we had some on Friday night, as we had our next door neighbours, over for tea, and they thoughly enjoyed them.
So with out any more chat, let me give you the Recipe, you'll love them as well.

Ok when all your meat Patties from the Wallaby, is all cleaned then I minced it all up with a couple of nice sized onions, then added some chopped bacon pieces, a cup and a half of bread crumbs, brought in a packet, then next a couple of beaten eggs, salt and pepper to your liking, also some cooked and mashed potatoes, and when all mixed up together, then you make a nice sized pattie, I use a fork to put some on a tray to, make into nice size, 3 inches around , and make as many as your mixture will allow.

Then either cook them on the Barbecue, or under the griller on your stove, or where ever you want to cook them, and when cooked through, serve with nice cooked Patties and fresh garden vegetables fresh from your own Garden, Wow , mmmmmmmmmmm very very nice, and best of all there is no unessary fat to be concerned about, if you don't want the bacon put in it then leave it out, and you will have no fat at all in it, and you will get all the protien you need, plus there is no Cholestrol, to worry about this is the best meat, of all wild meats.

So there you are another use for your Garden-fresh-Foods with Wallaby Patties.
So hope you enjoy them as much as we did on Friday night, washed down with a nice Red Wine, mmmmmmmmm beautiful, so until next time its Keep healthy from Green thumb. bye.

All kinds of goodies planted today

Hi and welcome to Garden-fresh-food:

Well today we planted onions, peas, lettuces, carrots, and a lot of beans,Both climbing and butter beans, snake beans, kinglake beans, and we had a real good day as now they are getting longer as the Summer comes into play.
Also we had a lot of Compost to put out and dig into new beds ready for, what ever is next to plant like some Black Russian Tomatoes, as they are ready now to be transplanted, into nice friable soils, and will really get away if anything like last year.
Here at Garden-Fresh-Food: where we are now living up in a mountain top like place in Mytle Grove Retreat, with Paul and Muriel Hart.
With all the bird life here as we don't have a Cat or a Dog, to chase them away, there are Possums, and Bandicoots, Potoroo's, Rabbits wild one's, that all like to get into the Garden if they possibly can, but we have a wire netting fence with an electric wire around the top to keep the possums out, also we have a possums trap we catch them and relocate them away from the property, as they will return when taken away unless taken over a wide river then they won't return. ok enough for today we look forward to seeing your Comments, and Email us if we can help you in any way at all.
So until next post its God Bless you and keep you in very Good health with Garden-Fresh-Food. bye for now from green thumb:

Eating the best clean food on the Planet

Well its winter on the North West Coast of Tasmania, and the cool weather doesn't encourage much in the way of gardening activities at the Moment.
I'd rather stay cuddled up inside next to the nice warm fire; and watch the lovely rain trickle down the window, and hear it filling up our fresh water tanks.
Many plants in the garden are also taking time out during the cold and wet, waiting until the fresh energy of spring brings warmer soil temperatures and new life.
But when there's a break in the weather and you feel like pulling on your rubber boots, here are some jobs, you can do in preperation for the change of season to come.

A TO DO LIST:

Root crops such as Carrots,Onions, Parsnips, Swedes, and similar, should be thinned out to allow enough space for bigger and stronger roots.
Sprinkle so old tea leaves/tea bags or pine needles around strawberries, to add some acid to the soil.
Make sure your Asparagus, bed is topped up with weathered manure, clear away excess material at the base of fruit trees to prevent stem rot.
Collect cuttings and vegitation from spent crops, fallen leaves and waste organic materials, and pile into a heap ready for composting.
Don't ever put deseased material into the compost, dispose of it in the garbage, And finally, take a look around your beautiful vegetable garden and see where you will plant your Spring and summer vegetables. till next week keep digging and planting for health: from Green Thumb:
